I think the laptop battle organisers should consider the future of visuals at their events in order for the setup to evolve. In response to your post about LAPTOP BATTLE...
This event HAS evolved. The 1st two LB events were single competition. This recent one (in March 07) was a team battle.
The main reason for the decision not to allow each team to have their own VJ was a simple technical issue.
There were already 16 producers involved in the battle, as well as 2 VJs, and it was just not practical to allow each team to have their own VJ. If all the teams had their own VJ then this would be another 8 VJ setups in addition to the 2 VJs for the event, as well as the 16 producers. There simply was not enough space to accomodate all that technology in the back room of The Croft.
Hope this clears things up for you.
Anyway, LAPTOP BATTLE is all about the music! It shouldnt matter whether the producers have their own VJs, cos the VJs on the night did a grand job.
